You know, Nicole, as I read the article, all I could think of was my past experience of almost having the life sucked out of me via ministry. In ministry, you must have a balance. Sometimes, our spiritual leaders can pull on their ministry leaders so much so until you are no longer effective. You need the time to be refreshed–not just spiritually, but mentally, emotionally, and physically. We must take the time to live! Vacations are not just needed, they are a “must do.” Then, we have to “learn” to be comfortable with saying “No.” Everything in the churches ministry is not “your” assignment. We are not assigned to all people. Our assignment may even take us to another geographical region. I found out that I had done so much for my pastors and for the people–putting myself and children on the “back burner” for the progress of the ministry–but questioned what had I really done “for God.” Was I really serving God? Was I really occupying–not in the church work (was busy doing that) but occupying in my purpose and life assignment? After taking a survey and introspective view of “me,” I felt so cheated. It took a while and some time, but now I am evolving. Thank God! The Lord never stops being a “Savior.” He saved me from spiritual suicide and delivered me from people. God loved me so much that he moved me from a ministry where my “work” had been concluded and gave me an A1, topnotch Pastor that salvaged my life and ministry (no unforgiveness nor disrespect to my former pastor–he did what he knew; you can outgrow your leader). Salvage means to save something for further use or rescue something/someone from a bad situation or destruction because of its’/their value, worth, and purpose. As a priest, I am a gift given to the church for the perfecting of the saints, the work of the ministry, and the edification of the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:11,12). However, my assignment constantly changes while my lifes’ purpose does not. This brings about balance; the honing of my craft in preaching and teaching; inner joy, peace, and happiness; and keeps me from getting bored. Yes, I said it, bored. When you do what you were created to do, you never get bored! Walking in the blessed zone “daily loadeth me with benefits” where no choking, killing ivy exits.

“In the Middle of a crime I committed a horrible Murder” says Pastor Davis
Listen to this heart wrenching testimony of how Pastor Davis went from Prison to the Pulpit. In jail for a murder he committed at 18 yrs old.
In his testimony he talks about things he experienced at 18 in prison.
“I saw a 15 yr old in the cell next to me DEAD, he just couldn’t take it anymore”.Men and boys were raped repeatedly and no one came to help them” says Pastor Davis
Another Young Black Male Killed
Another Young Black Male in the System
While listening to Pastor Davis’s testimony I wept. I wept for God’s saving power and how he loves us all in spite of ourselves. But I also wept for these young people that are making choices based on their emotions. Instantly their lives are destroyed. Families torn apart over something senseless.
I share the testimony above because just yesterday another young black male was murdered in Norfolk, VA. The young male murdered was 20 yrs old, the alleged shooter, just 19.
Two families destroyed. My heart grieves for both the family of the young male that was killed but also for the 19 yr old and his family. Please pray for them both, we need to cover them with peace of God.
Please share Pastor Davis’s testimony.
God is a forgiving God and he can comfort those in need.
In a split second your life can be changed because of a choice, an emotion.
MAY OUR YOUNG PEOPLE PLEASE WAKE UP. LIFE IS PRECIOUS.
They were just teenagers who wanted a chance at a better education. But in 1959 Norfolk, that was a problem. African-American students weren’t allowed to go to historically white schools.
…Until the landmark Brown v. Board of Education decision opened the door for them by strinking down the doctrine of “separate but equal.” But it still took years of legal wrangling before any of the Norfolk 17 set foot into an integrated classroom.
Then they were intimidated, threatened, cursed and subjected to all manner of racial animosity. But the persevered…and ultimately graduated from high school, earning a place at the table of better education for the African-American students who came after.
Fast forward 50 years: for the first time ever, the Norfolk 17 came together as a group at WHRO to share the heartbreaking, heartwarming stories of their experiences during that horrible time in our history.
These stories will make you laugh, cry, shake your head and marvel at the courage and fortitude of these “babies who were denied their teenage years.”
Norfolk 17: Their Story is the latest in a long line of thought-provoking productions from WHOR. The hour-long television documentary will be broadcast on the 50th anniversary of the day the Norfolk 17 shattered the barriers of segregation - Monday, February 2, 2009, at 9 pm (repeating Sunday, February 9th at 4 pm) on WHRO TV15 and HD15.1.
Read the plea that was sent to the US Senator, Governor, Representative, Airport Official, Disability Organization, and Congressman…….
Dear Senator,
My name is Tawana Williams; I am a disabled Motivational Speaker/Author. I was born without arms, and have overcome many challenges in my 45 years of being on this earth. I don’t know where to start with this challenge, so I’m starting here, at the beginning. I’ve been traveling for 12 years as a Speaker, motivating people of all walks of life with my message of hope & inspiration. We travel to schools, churches, prisons, day cares, corporations, nursing homes, etc. challenging people to live there best life. Most of the time my husband Toby drives me to my events, but lately we’ve been having to fly, because of the long distance. When flying, I pay for my airline ticket as every one else does. My problem is in the Airports, there are NO Family Assistant Rest Rooms. I need my husbands’ assistance when using the rest room in public places. Recently, traveling through Dallas Ft.Worth Airport (they do have a FARR) but, it is in another Concourse, and to get there, I’d have to take the train there and back; it’s just not enough time to do that when you have a short lay over. So therefore, I had to hold it until we got on the Airplane. If you’ve ever been in an Airplane commercial sized rest room, you know how small it is, I’m 4 ft. 5-1/2 inches tall, and my husband Toby is 6 ft. 2-inches tall, can you imagine how hard it is for the both of us to squeeze into that small space… So, on behalf of myself, my disabled friends, and the many disabled travelers in America, I want to know how to get a Law/Bill passed stating that every Airport in America Must have a Family Assistance Restroom.
